Tiny House
In year two, I designed a tiny house as a project for school. This was great fun to do because in this you could really follow your own idea. It was a free assignment with few guidelines from school.
The client's requirements were as follows:
- durability
- natural light
- kitchen with sufficient workspace
- a bench that several people could sit on
- separate bathroom
- a double bed
The mood of the design is natural, warm, calm and artistic.
Below is the mood picture following the client's wishes.
The dimensions of the tiny house must meet the technical requirements, the living area may not exceed 25m2, and in combination with a suitable trailer no heavier than 3500 kg. In addition, we had to take sustainability into account.
The atmosphere, as already described above, is of course the main thread of the design. The basic colour will be white, to which blue and yellow ochre will be added as supporting colours. Using natural materials creates a natural and calm atmosphere.
My aim with this design is to ensure that the house feels spacious, while the exterior will also be taken into account, with the interior and exterior having to come together.
All this comes together with images to create a concept board.
Final design
Below are all the floor plans and dimensional details of the final design for the tiny house.

Year 3
In one period, we had some different projects. One of them was the Café. Besides becoming a café, there had to be space to work, it had to be accessible to everyone.
The style we worked in during this project was urban jungle style.
Following the requirements and atmosphere, I made four sketch designs. In these, I played with different arrangements and furniture.
I finally developed the final sketch, in which I had combined different parts of the previous three designs, into a final design.
In the following images, you will see how that atmosphere is applied in the furniture, lighting, materials, colours and finally how the bar is designed. I designed the bar myself in a drawing programme to fit the purpose of the café.
As a final project, we created a design for a BSO. It was especially important that children of different ages could play here. But also that they could retreat when needed. It had to be a multifunctional space with enough storage space for the children.
The atmosphere in which everything comes together is calm, warm, natural and playful. The colours will mainly be used on the walls, to keep the furniture calm.
Below is the preliminary design. To create space, I placed a wall near the entrance, so the children can quietly unpack their belongings. At the back, I created two corners where you can watch TV or read in peace. What I found very important is that they can expend their energy, and I used this in the climbing frame.
The last pictures show which colours and materials are used and how they are applied to the walls.
Project Overteylingen
This is a design for an apartment in the village of Sassenheim. The living area consists of 100m2, which includes two bedrooms, a bathroom, central heating, separate toilet, living room and kitchen.
The images show the current situation.
The client is a 26-year-old man living alone. The atmosphere in which he desires the design is a luxury hotel atmosphere, which is also masculine sporty. Pragmatic maintenance is important.
Bedroom
Spacious, 2 bed and storage space for TV and clothes.
Bathroom
Simple and easy to maintain.
Kitchen
Does not cook often so not immensely extensive, large fridge with ice maker, good coffee unit and space for 4-6 people to sit.
Living room
Comfortable to sit and lie down, home cinema (large TV screen), especially larger accessories.
Window trim
Blackout, also for living room because of home cinema, good for acoustics.
Concept
In the first draft, we already adapted a lot in response to the current situation. An open bathroom creates a larger space. We also made a sliding door between the two rooms. Between the kitchen and living room, we put a divider to break up the space without making it smaller.
Final design
Following the conversation with the client, we made some adjustments and added a few things. For example, we installed a built-in cupboard in the hall, this makes for a tidy hall. In the bedroom, the bed is now centred in the middle. In the study, we extended the closets to create more space but also a larger feeling. We extended the kitchen into a U-shape with a bar attached. The table was removed because the client will not be using it. This leaves more space around the sofa in the living room.
The entire house will have wallpaper as wall coverings. Below is an overview per room, what will be applied.
