For my first two internship periods, I chose to intern at the company Bader.
I learnt a lot here because it is a broad company. For example, they give advice for interior design they do this with the products they sell: paint, flooring, window decoration, carpets and rugs and wallpaper. The shop has many samples and books for customers to look at. We also use these to give people good advice for their interiors.
Soon I also joined in measuring the windows or walls. We do this when people want to buy window decoration or wallpaper. For this, you need to know what the measurements are so that everything can be ordered exactly to size. We measure with a device, and then we write the measurements down with drawings and floor plans.
Together with a college, I hung curtains in people's homes for the first time. We had to hang curtains for five windows, so we spent quite some time doing this. Also, because this was my first time doing this, it was quite difficult and fiddly. But I enjoyed learning how to do it. And the end result also turned out super nice. It has a very warm atmosphere and goes very well with the rest of the house.
For another customer, we hung curtains in the living room and bedroom. These curtains had to be hung in a wave pleat, which was different from the first time I hung curtains. This house is a project for us, and we do a lot of things for it. Like the wallpaper and paint in the living room and bedroom, which were chosen together with the curtains and match really well. It has become a whole and really creates a peaceful atmosphere. The photo on the left are the curtains in the bedroom, and the two photos on the right are of the living room. These hang in front of two French doors.
A number of things have changed in the shop, including a new shelving unit at the back. People's orders are placed on it, so they are no longer on the floor. The cabinet is made of wood and did not yet match the rest of the shop.
First, I primed the entire cabinet. I mixed this paint myself with remaining paint cans that came from the attic. After everything was primed, a varnish could be applied. We made this in the same grey as the rest of the shop. This creates a whole and radiates tranquillity. This also goes down well with the customers. It took me a long time to paint, but I really enjoyed it and the end result turned out very nice.
At the same time, I helped many customers with advice on colours, wallpaper and curtains. I really enjoy doing this, and I learned a lot from it. For example, for one customer, I chose a curtain fabric to go with the wallpaper they already had. Below you can see their wallpaper. I chose the curtain from a House of Happiness, which is from the Lagoon collection and has colour number 04.
At the front of the shop, near the windows, I hung curtains. First, the curtains had to be picked out and put in a nice order. Then I unscrewed one side of the rails and could put the runners on, which is where the curtains should be hung.

After I had screwed everything back on, I could start hanging the curtains. This took me quite some time, but it was super fun to do. And also because everyone can see them now. The end result turned out really nice, and it also creates a cosy atmosphere in the shop.
